Developer CI Games confirmed on January 17 that an open beta for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is coming in February, ahead of the game’s release on April 25.
The beta will start on February 3 and it’s open to anyone, but we don’t know when it will end. Unfortunately, it will be available only on PC – sorry console users.
Signups for the beta on PC are open now on sniperghostwarrior3.com/beta, where you just have to input a valid email address and agree to the terms and conditions. Simple as that!
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 Open Beta Missions
The developers mentioned that during the Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 open beta you get to test two single-player missions, “Cut Off” and “Blockout”, in which you play as a sniper named Jon.
You can find the official descriptions of the two beta missions below:
Cut Off: “The Separatists control a large antenna array, which lets them use satellites to track enemy movements and communicate with distant outposts. Jon needs to infiltrate this compound and manually reposition the dishes to intercept the satellite signal. Gaining access to enemy communications would give Jon and his team a tactical advantage over the enemy, as well as possible intel on his brother, Robert.”
Blockout: “Jon’s cooperation with the local resistance, the Rotki Lions, gave him the location of one of the targets from his Most Wanted list – a list containing the names of war criminals that Jon can neutralize to bring justice to the people of Georgia. The target is Ivan Krustchev. He’s hiding out in an abandoned apartment complex, surrounded by his guards. How will you complete this mission? Will you use your sniper rifle from the opposite building, storm the outpost with your assault rifle, or sneak past the guards and quietly take out your target?”
CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński said: “Since this is a technical test, we encourage everyone to give us feedback of their experiences in the Steam forums. We hope they enjoy what they play!”. I say: listen to the guy!
Unlike previous installments which were linear, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is a “reinvention of the series”, thus is switching to an open-world structure. This is similar to Ghost Recon Wildlands which also went the open-world way.
And an even bigger coincidence is that both games have a beta on the same date. Which one will you play is up to you – or to the developers, because they decide if you make it in the betas or not.
Sniping is the main focus of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, obviously, but you can adapt and improvise given the tools you have at your disposal – drones, drones everywhere! Also, multiplayer.
Until the PC open beta goes live you can watch some of the game’s mechanics in the gameplay video released by CI Games on their official YouTube channel – check the end of the article.
Are you excited about the open beta? I’d vote yes, since you have the opportunity to try the game for free.
