After 10 years in development, Final Fantasy XV was finally released, and without any doubt it is one of the greatest titles in the series, and one of the strong competitors for this year’s GOTY award.

Like many others, we have waited a long time to play the latest video game developed by Square Enix, and after the first 12 hours I can honestly say that it blew me away. Indeed, Final Fantasy XV has some flaws, but overall, I simply can’t wait to get back in the game.

Since we waited so much for Final Fantasy XV, we decided to create a complete text and video walkthrough for it; a walkthrough which will hopefully help you during your adventures in the beautiful world of Eos.

Because the game’s Prologue is rather short, we will use it as an introduction to explain how our walkthrough works, and also share with you some insights as well as several tips and hints.

Before Starting Final Fantasy XV

We are aware that you are eager to play Final Fantasy XV, but we suggest waiting two more hours and spend this time watching Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, the Japanese computer-animated anime film released on July 9, 2016.

The Blu-ray costs $9.99 on Amazon, and the movie will help you understand the setting in the video-game. You will learn more about Noctis and his father Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII. You will discover some characters you will meet in the game, and you will also find out what exactly happened on Eos, and who are you fighting against.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to watch Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV if you wish to better understand the video game.

Early Game

Once you start the game, you will be asked to play a tutorial. Accept this task and complete it.

As presented, Final Fantasy XV is a game for both new players and veterans. If this is the first Final Fantasy game you play, the tutorial will teach you how combat works, how to use spells, or various items. The combat in Final Fantasy video games is different than everything you have experienced before. Make sure you fully understand it.

If you missed it, you can replay it from the main menu.

For Final Fantasy veterans, some combat mechanics have changed from previous titles, such as Final Fantasy XIII and as Final Fantasy XIII-2. You should play the tutorial too.

Exploration

Especially early in the game, don’t travel during the night. When the sun goes down, head to a camp and rest. During the night, the enemies you encounter are way more dangerous and there are some demons that can wipe out your team with a single blow.

Travel to a camp, rest, and continue your activities when the sun is up.

Our Final Fantasy XV walkthrough is focused on the quests you can complete in the game, not on how to explore the world. You can do that by yourself, but here are several hints to help you along the way:

-You can drive your car, Regalia, only on the road. Don’t try to go off-road because you can’t. You will have to explore those areas on foot or on a Chocobo.

-All points of interest such as Food Spots, Treasure Spots, and Mineral Deposits, appear on your map after you talk to the NPCs working at diners.

-You can’t reach all areas from the beginning.

Main Quests and Side Quests

The Main Quests in Final Fantasy XV allow you to progress the story. They are marked with red in your journal, and they are usually linked. When you complete one, you will start the following.

The Side Quests are marked with blue and you can pick them up from various NPCs. Some of them have specific requirements and various rewards.

Hunting Quests can be picked up from diners and allow you to earn additional money (Gil) as well as stars. The stars are used to increase you rating, and earn better rewards. Some quests require a specific rank.

For each quest in the game, we have a walkthrough (video and text), so make sure you check the table of contents on the right sidebar to learn more.

As a rule, we suggest to stick to the recommended level for each quest you attempt. Being bold is a good thing, but can also be deadly.

Gear, Elemancy, Items

Each of the four characters can equip various items. The tutorial will explain in depth how to use them. Again, make sure you complete it.

Using our Final Fantasy XV Walkthrough

As I have mentioned above, we will cover all quests in the video game independently. This means that we will explain, when and how to start a specific quest. Furthermore, we will explain how to complete it, and the strategies we have used.

We will tell you what weapons are effective against the enemies you will encounter, where to find the items required by quest-givers, and what rewards should you expect to receive.

Once a quest is done, we will also explain what you should do next.

Our walkthrough will cover the game on normal difficulty since it is the highest difficulty you can access for the first playthrough.

Finally, if you encounter difficulties, you can reach us in the comments section below, or on our YouTube channel. Additionally, make sure you check our Final Fantasy XV playlist here, for all quests in the game.

When you are ready, feel free to start with the Prologue below.

Prologue

The game’s Prologue is quite short and includes a series of cutscenes. Your character is Prince Noctis.

Move towards the flames in front of you, to see your friends engaged in battle. As you approach, Prompto will try to help you, while Ignis asks you to take cover. Gladiolus will also join your position.

At this point you will trigger a cut-scene, and you will go back in time, when Noctis left his home accompanied by his friends.

This specific cut-scene is related to the events from Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. We will not insist on it, since we wish to keep our walkthrough free of spoilers.

As you leave the palace, your father, Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII will come to say goodbye, and the Prologue ends. This will automatically trigger Chapter 1: Departure, and the first main quest in the game, named The Pauper Prince.
