The second part of the third Final Fantasy XIII-2 episode is called Oathbrand, but unlike the previous part, it includes more areas that must be visited. The first zone you should investigate is Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF.
To get to Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF, you have to unlock it through the gate located in the Bresha Ruins 005 AF sewers.
As soon as you travel to Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF, you will unlock the Past Gazer Achievement/Trophy.
Our Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough Episode 3 Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF explains how to complete the quests in this zone and how to advance further in the game. Those who have followed our walkthrough up to this point, already know how the table of contents below works, and how to access each independent Final Fantasy 13-2 walkthrough.
Leave Bresha Ruins 005 AF and travel to Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF using the Gate Matrix.
Watch the introduction movie, showing Snow, and get ready to play as Noel. At this point, you can’t control Serah, who leaves after she has a vision. Your first objective is to find her.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough – Table of Contents
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough – Episode 3: Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF – Objective 1: Follow Serah.
Move north and jump to enter the Forest Crossroads.
Go right, and up on the roots, then go left, until you see someone fighting several orange creatures (also known as Flans). It is Snow and after the cutscene, a new boss appears, called Royal Ripeness.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough – Episode 3: Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF – Objective 2: Defeat the Giant fFlan (Royal Ripeness)
During this fight, Snow will join you, but keep in mind that you cannot control him. Additionally, you should know that after the first phase, you have to complete a Cinematic Action, and another one at the end of the battle.
Now, you will see that the Royal Ripeness is surrounded by small Flans that help the boss regenerate. Since you can’t kill the Flans, the best strategy is to stagger the Royal Ripeness using a Ravager/Ravager/Ravager combination, and then switch to a Commando/Commando/Commando formation.
After the first phase, get ready to press X to finish the Cinematic Action. The first phase ends when the boss loses 20% of his total health.
When the Royal Ripeness recovers, you have to stagger him again. Use the same strategy but pay attention to the boss, and when you see that he raises his arms in the air, use a three Sentinel combination, because he will hit you hard.
Even if you can’t control Snow, he will increase the damage your party inflicts when the boss is staggered.
To beat the Royal Ripeness, and get a perfect score on the final Cinematic Action, be prepared to perform the following actions:
-Push the Left Thumbstick up
-Press X once
-Tap X to fill the circle on the screen
-Push the Left Thumbstick to the right
Watch the cutscene, and you will find out that you didn’t kill the Royal Ripeness, because he is too powerful. For completing the Cinematic Action, you will get the Crystal Heart.
Now, it’s time to explore this area. Go left and loot the sphere near Serah, then push forward to enter the Underground Path. A new objective is given.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Walkthrough – Episode 3: Sunleth Waterscape 300 AF – Objective 3: Where is the artefact?
Jump off the next ledge and use the blue sparkling vine to go to the next area
Go around the giant Flan but don’t attack it. Continue south and you will see a green monster with long fur.
Watch the cutscene and when it ends you will learn the Moogle Throw ability. This ability allows you to get unreachable spheres or other items by aiming and throwing Mog. Try this on the spheres to the right, while standing on the monster’s back. When the monster reaches the destination, jump down, and you will see Chocolina to the right. Behind her is a sphere. Throw Moogle and he will recover it for you.
Continue forward, on the roots, and then climb the vine to the left. In the next area you will see a gate and near it, a sphere. Loot it and look near the sphere, where you will see a root.
Jump on it and move forward to enter the Bumpy Bough.
Look down and you will see some flans roaming around. Take them out and claim the artefact, which can be used to open the nearby gate.
Watch the cutscene then mount the Chocobo.
At this point, you have two options. You can go to the gate and unlock it, or you can return to the place you have fought the first group of Flans and look around for a floating sphere that contains a hidden fragment, called Extraordinary Egg. You have to throw Moogle to get this fragment.
After you pick the fragment head to the southern gate and use the Combat Artefact to open it. You will unlock Coliseum –Year Unknown-; however, you shouldn’t travel here yet. Instead, ride the Chocobo north until you get to the green monster. While on monster’s back look to the right for a floating artefact called the Wild Artefact. Throw Moogle as soon as you see it, because you can’t stop the monster.
Continue north and then east, around Chocolina. Follow the roots up and go east. Eventually you will see a group of Flans, protecting another fragment. Defeat them, then complete the Live Trigger, by asking about Lightning. Pick up your reward inside the cube.
Now, go back north and use the Thundering Artefact on the gate marked on your map, to unlock your next destination: The Archylte Steppe – Year Unknown -, also known as The Archylte Steppe ??? AF.
