COD Modern Warfare 3 Characters Guide: Playable Characters
Andrei Harkov – in the mission Turbulence he is a playable character. He is a FSO agent and on October 3, 2016 he is killed by Vladimir Makarov.
Derek Westbrook – his nickname is Frost. Derek is a sergeant in the Delta Forces. He is one of the lead characters in COD: MW3 and he is one of the accessible Modern Warfare 3 characters.
John MacTravish – his nickname is Soap and he is Scottish. John is one of the Modern Warfare 3 characters that can be played and he is also the main character in the MW games, as he appeared in all three of them. Soap serves in the 22nd SAS Regiment as a sniper and demolition expert. He was killed by Vladimir Makarov on October 11, 2016.

Anton Fedorov – appears in the mission Turbulence. His status is unknown.
Featuring in the category of the Modern Warfare characters that can’t be used is Bogdan Sokolov. He was one of the Russian President advisors. He was killed by the Inner Circle in the Turbulence mission on October 3, 2016.
Boris Vorshevsky – he is the Russian President. He was also a mentioned character in Modern Warfare 2. He was abducted by Makarov’s troops along with his daughter. Later they were rescued by the Delta Force and Force Task 141 troops.
Gator – he works as a Delta operator and follows the Metal Team in Paris for the mission Iron Lady.
German tank commander – he is one of the few unnamed Modern Warfare 3 characters. He made a brief appearance in the Scorched Earth mission.
Granite Leader – he is the leader of Team Granite . His name is unknown. He died in an explosion in the mission Scorched Earth.
Griffen – he is a corporal in SAS. He also appeared in COD 4: Modern Warfare, where he was just a private. He died in a train crash on October 6, 2016.
Grinch – he is a Delta Force 1st Class Sergeant. Grinch is a member of the Metal 0-3 team and he was killed on October 14, 2016.
Grizzly – he is the leader of Team Anvil, a captain in the Delta Forces and one of the non-playable Modern Warfare 3 characters. He uses as a weapon the MP5. Grizzly appears in the missions Hunter Killer and Scorched Earth.
John Price – he is a captain in the British SAS. He is, along with John “Soap” MacTravish, one of the main protagonists of the Modern Warfare series. This time he is one of the Modern Warfare 3 characters that can’t be accessed while playing the game. John has many nicknames such as Bravo Six, Prisoner #627, Black Viking or Old Men. He is voiced by Billy Murray.
Kamarov – is a sergeant in the Russian Loyalist Army. He was also seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In MW3, Kamarov has the task to help the SAS forces in Russia. He is killed by Makarov on October 11, 2016.
Kelly – is an US Army sergeant and made a brief appearance in the mission Scorched Earth.
LeBlanc – appears in the mission Bag and Drag and he is one of the supporting Modern Warfare 3 characters. He actually is a GIGN member. His leader is Sabre. LeBlanc uses a MK56 and an MP5.
Leonid Pudovkin – he is a Commander in the FSO. He features in the mission Turbulence, where he is killed by Makarov while he is trying to save the Russian President.
MI5 Director – she appears in the mission Mind the Gap. While driving her car, a MI6 agent calls and informs her about the terrorist attack that will occur in London.
MacMillan – also known as Alpha Six or Baseplate. He can be seen in COD4: Modern Warfare and in Modern Warfare 3. He has a powerful Scottish accent and one of the lines that he uses in MW3 is “Oi, Suzy!” . MacMillan is the General Commander of the 22nd SAS Regiment Base and one of the Modern Warfare 3 characters included in our guide.
Mamba – he appears in the mission Hunter Killer. Mamba is a soldier in the US Navy Seals and he was probably killed by the Russians on August 17, 2016.
Maxim “Volk” Khristenko – it is said that he works for Makarov making bombs. He was born in Russia and he has a company named Fregata Industries. He is now in US custody.
Meyers – appears in Mind the gap mission and he is a SAS operative.
Morel – can be seen in the Goalpost mission. He is a commander in the GIGN troops and he is killed by gas and chemical agents on October 6, 2016.
Nikolai – he is actually an informant for the British SAS since COD 4: Modern Warfare. His real name is unknown and he is one of the important Modern Warfare 3 characters from the story. Actually, without him, many of the events in MW3 plot, would not have happened.
Overlord – is an American command base featured in the Modern Warfare series and one of the Modern Warfare 3 characters. Overlord is the code name.
Pavel Morozov – he is part of the Russian Government and died in the mission Turbulence on October 3, 2016.
President of the United States – only his voice is heard in MW3. His identity is unknown and he can be heard in the missions Iron Lady and Dust to Dust.
Redgrave – appears in Mind the Gap mission and he is a member of the British SAS.
Resistance Leader – he leads the Czech Resistance and appears in the mission Blood Brothers. His team, the Russian Loyalists and Task Force 141 cooperate, trying to kill Vladimir Makarov.
Sabre – he is a French GIGN. He is voiced by Jean – Michel Richaud. Sabre appears in the mission Bang and Drag.
Sandman – he is Mater Sergeant in the Delta Forces. He was born on October 10, 1969 and he was killed on October 14, 2016. His voice is performed by William Fichtner.
Sarah Davis – she appears in Modern Warfare 3. Sarah is on a trip to London with her parents. They die on October 16, 2016 when a truck full of chemical agents explodes.
Sierra 1 – is the codename for a SAS sniper that appears in the mission Mind the Gap.
The Doctor – his first appearance is in the Prologue mission. He is part of Nikolai’s Loyalist troops and he lives in Himachal Pradesh, India, in a safe-house. He dies in the mission Persona non Grata.
Thrumper – can be observed in two missions: Black Tuesday and Down the Rabbit Hole. He is in the Delta Forces and he fights in Anvil Team under commander Grizzly.
Truck – he is a Delta Force soldier that tails Sandman and Frost during the game. He is killed on October 14, 2016.
Tueur – he serves in the GIGN forces. Tueur appears in Bag and Drag and he is killed while fighting in Paris.
Lasili Zhukov – is a Russian official seen in the plane with President Boris Vorshevsky. He died the same day.
Vice President of the United States – his nickname is Goalpost . He makes a brief appearance in the mission Goalpost.
Vladimir R. Makarov – he is one of the Modern Warfare 3 characters that can’t be accesed. Also known as First Horseman or Kingfish. He features in MW2 and MW3. He is the main enemy in MW3 as he leads the Ultranationalists, a terrorist cell. He is killed at Hotel Oasis (U.A.E.) on January 21, 2017. His character is voiced by Roman Varshavsky.
Wallcroft – he is a sergeant in the British SAS. He serves along with Marcus Burns in Modern Warfare 3. Wallcroft can be seen in the missions Mind the Gap and Crew Expendable.
Warrabe – appears in the mission Return to Sender as he commands the local militia. He creates chemical weapons for Makarov. He dies at the age of 33 on October 8, 2016.
