San Ignacio Wreck is an underwater secondary location featured in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, but unlike other wrecks, San Ignacio is a story-related location. San Ignacio Wreck is unlocked by playing the mission named Diving for Medicines, a mission which also unlocks the Diving Bell.
Additionally, San Ignacio Wreck is the first underwater location you will be able to explore in Assassin’s Creed 4, and it includes nine collectibles, three of them being fragments, and six chests.
One of the chests on San Ignacio Wreck contains an upgrade plan for the Jackdaw, and the following guide explains how to get it.
Furthermore, the map above shows all collectibles, as well as the location of the chest containing the medicine you need to retrieve for Thatch; while de video walkthrough above will help you explore the area.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag San Ignacio Wreck Chests Locations
After you lower the diving bell, the first chest you can retrieve on San Ignacio Wreck, is Chest #1 marked on the map above.
It is located north from your starting position, on the bottom of the ocean, under a small section of the wreck’s hull. Inside the chest are 196 Reales, a porcelain plate (45 R), and a silver cross (90 R).
North-east from the first chest is another section of the wreck. The entrance is blocked by several jellyfishes. Swim around them and you will see the second chest containing 163 Reales and a gold pocket watch.
West from the second chest, you will notice another part of the same shipwreck. Under the main bridge is the chest containing the medicine for Captain Thatch, but to get it you have to open a hatch. Swim around the main deck and get close to the hatch.
Open it, and then dive towards the collectible. Notice that when you approach the chest you will move a pillar that opens a tunnel. Follow it to get to the northern side of the area.
Close to the first fragment included in the guide is the fourth chest. It is also located near some weeds and close to a section of the wreck’s hull. Inside the chest you will find 150 Reales, and a gold tiara (170 Reales).
The fifth chest is also on the bottom of the ocean and it contains 1000 Reales. After you loot Chest #4, swim west and remain close to the bottom of the ocean to avoid the sharks. Next to another patch of weeds is the chest.
Inside the large wreck in the northern section of the area you will find the sixth chest, which is also the most important because it contains an upgrade plan.
The collectible is easy to reach because the wreck features a large hole on one of its sides. Enter the wreck and loot the chest to get the Elite Hull Upgrade Plan. Now exit the take the medicine back to Thatch.
After the cutscene, use the diving bell again and you will get close to the final chest.
The last chest, can be collected after you dive the second time, because it is very close to the new diving point. When you get underwater, to the north, you will see another section of the wreck and several jellyfishes in front of the entrance.
Behind them is the chest which holds 150 Reales and a gold chain (130 Reales).
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag San Ignacio Wreck Animus Fragments Locations
Animus Fragment 1
The first Animus Fragment on the map is located behind the patch of weeds you can use to avoid the sharks in the northern section of the area. When you exit the western tunnel, stay close to the bottom of the ocean and enter the wreck in front of you to get the fragment.
Animus Fragment 2
The location of the final Animus Fragment is similar to the one where you have found the firs chest, meaning that the collectible is inside a smaller section of the wreck.
Swim south, and go around the said section to get inside and collect the fragment.
Animus Fragment 3
The final fragment should be collected after the last chest. When you exit the wreck where you have found Chest #7, turn right to see a mast.
Lunge up and on top of it is the last fragment in San Ignacio Wreck.
